Since its inception in 1983, The Lambda
Foundation, one of the oldest gay and
lesbian oriented foundations in the nation, has awarded
more than $800,000 to projects and programs important to
Pittsburgh's GLBT community. The foundation's grants
have been responsible for helping fund such notable
organizations as: Persad, ACLU Pittsburgh, PATF, Bet
Tikvah, CMU Out, Shepherd Wellness Community, Women's
Law Project, GLCC Pittsburgh, Renaissance City Choirs,
PFLAG Pittsburgh, Western PA Freedom to Marry, and a
host of others. The annual ball is the primary
fund-raising event for the foundation.
